Invitation to nominate Area Panel resident Co-Chair
Information
As you may be aware, at the September round of Area Panels, we had no nominations for a resident co-chair in Central. Therefore, we will be running an election at the March panel.
The Resident Co-Chair:
· is elected for a year
· works with the Councillor Co-Chair, who is a member of Housing Committee
· helps to decide the Area Panel agenda at 4 agenda setting meetings (1 hour each)
· shares the chairing of 4 Area Panel meetings (2 hours) with the Councillor Co-Chair
· can invite another resident to support their role at meetings
Nominations:
To nominate yourself, or someone else, for this position please send your name and a short supporting statement to the Community Engagement Team.
The supporting statement can be a couple of sentences and answers: Why should people vote for you or your nominees?
This statement can include but is not limited to:
· Your motivations for applying or for suggesting this other person.
· The skills that you, or others, will bring to the role.
· Your past experiences
To submit this to the Community Engagement Team please email CommunityEngagement@brighton-hove.gov.uk or call/text 07717 302986 or 01273 291518. Or these can be returned at the beginning of the Area Panel meeting.
If you require any additional information, or support in your application please contact the Community Engagement Team.
Voting
All nominations will be circulated at the meeting.
The Chair will invite those standing to take 30 seconds to introduce themselves before the vote.
Each Association has one vote for Co-Chair. Usually, your Associations Area Panel Representative holds this vote. Or it can be any other member of the Association at the meeting.
The voting will take place as a secret ballot during the Area Panel meeting with results announced at the end.
Many thanks
